Step back in time and embark on an exciting off road trip in Medieval Transylvania with our Friends & Family Tours. Explore off road the magical natural scenery of Transylvanian villages, spread out on both sides of the Carpathian Mountains. Learn about the ancient traditions and the healthy lifestyle of the local people. Enjoy coffee breaks in the mountains and experience nature`s beneficial power. The off road trip also includes a walking tour through the medieval towns of Sibiu, Sighisoara, and Brasov. You will have the opportunity to relax, but also to create memorable memories with 4×4 Tours!

General terms:

  • Concept of traveling in convoy: The leader vehicle is driven by our guide and rest of the vehicles are driven by the tourists after solid training.
  • In one  4×4 vehicle can travel 2, 3, or 4 adult tourists.
  • The package is suitable for small groups of 6 – 20 persons, traveling in 2 – 5 off road vehicles, besides the leader vehicle
  • Off Road level of difficulty: Easy-Medium suitable for drivers with small experience in driving 4×4 vehicles or even with no experience in off road. Experience for driving 4×4 vehicles is a plus but not mandatory.
  • *The drivers must have at least 21 years old and minimum of 2 years of driving experience with normal cars.

Day 1 Bucharest – Bucegi Natural Park – Timisu de Jos
We will pick up from the airport or your hotel in Bucharest and start the off road trip in Medieval Transylvania. We will drive about 2 hours, north towards Sinaia to get at the foot of the Bucegi Mountains. The first destination of the day is Bucegi Natural Park, one of the most visited natural wonders and national parks in Romania. We`ll drive up in the hearth of Bucegi Moutains where we will explore the beautiful surroundings of the Bolboci Lake, also named “The sea from Bucegi”. The route continues through an amazing landscapes to “Podu cu Florile” Peak. Here, we will have a break enjoying stunning views over Bucegi Mountains and continue drive down to Sinaia. Day 2 Timisu de Jos – Traditional Villages – Poiana Marului
Drive to Zarnesti and we`ll take a short walk through the Canyon of Zarnesti breathing the fresh mountain air in the scenery of “Cold Mountain” movie. Afterwards, we will continue the off road trip to Magura and Pestera villages while admiring their fascinating natural landscapes over the Piatra Craiului and Bucegi Mountains. These are traditional and picturesque mountains villages which reveal the pastoral way of life of the Transylvanian shepherds. You will discover the authentic rural life in Romania, a land with rolling hills, remote villages `s roads, traditional wooden houses. Optional visit to Bran Castle (also known as Dracula’s Castle), a medieval masterpiece with fascinating history. Day 3 Poiana Marului – Sinca Veche – Saxon villages – Sibiu
After breakfast, we will explore in off road Poiana Marului area enjoying spectacular views over the Piatra Craiului Mountains. The village sceneries are charming and you`ll be fascinated by his fairy tale place. From here, continue driving towards Sinca Veche cave Monastery, also named “Temple of Wishes”. After vising this unique place filled with mystery and a lot of powerful energy, the off road trip continues to Soars, one of the most beautiful Saxon villages from Transylvania. Discover the charming Saxon Land crossing beautiful valleys and rolling hills while romantic landscapes accompanies us. Afterwards, you`ll reach Sibiu, also known as Hermannstadt, one of the oldest towns in the hearth of Transylvania, founded by Saxon colonists. Spend the rest of the day exploring the medieval city of Sibiu. Accommodation at 4* hotel in Sibiu

Day 4 : Sibiu – Hosman – Sighisoara – Racos Volcano – Poiana Brasov
In the morning, drive to Hosman village and visit its beautiful fortified church. Located in the picturesque valley of Hârtibaciu river, the fortified church has as background the spectacular view of the often snow-caped Făgăraş Mountains. Passing through several hidden Saxon villages, you`ll reach Sighisoara medieval citadel, UNESCO world heritage site. Founded by the Germans in the 12th and 13th centuries, Sighisoara is a major tourist attraction. Enjoy a walking tour through the town’s hilly streets and admire their original medieval architecture. Further on, the off road trip continues to the spectacular landscapes of Racos Volcano crater. The entire area of the geological nature reserve is dominated careers in various colors and shapes, beauty and impressive size featuring an awesome spectacle of nature. Day 5: Poiana Brasov – medieval city of Brasov – Bucharest
We drive in the morning to Brasov where we`ll enjoy a short walking tour in the old town center. Brasov is one of the seven citadels settled by the Saxons in the 12th century. Here you will see the famous Black Church (the largest Gothic construction in Eastern part of Europe).The old town is one of the best preserved old towns in Europe with splendid architecture and old fortifications. The city has an amazing history with influences from Germany, the Austria-Hungarian Empire and the old communist state. Afterwards, we `ll cross the mountains to Walachia and return in Bucharest. If time permitting, we will stop on our way for souvenir shopping in Bucharest Baneasa Mall. Transfer to the airport or to your hotel in Bucharest. Additional night in Bucharest is available on request.

    I took a 5 day 4×4 tour with the company and i can say its the best vacation i ever had! These guys are pros! They take care of everything and most importantly make sure you have a good time, and believe you will have a great time! By far the best thing i can recommend to anyone who comes to Romania! Bucharest is BS, THIS IS THE WHY YOU SHOULD COME TO ROMANIA!
