Concept of travelling in convoy: The leader vehicle is driven by our guide and rest of the vehicles are driven by the tourists after solid training.

Off Road level of difficulty: Easy-Medium suitable for drivers with small experience in driving 4×4 vehicles or even with no experience in 4×4.

Day 1 Bucharest – Bucegi Mountains

4x4 Tours Romania -1-10Welcome to Romania! We will pick you up from the airport or your location in Bucharest and start driving to the Carpathians Mountains. The first destination of the day is Bucegi Natural Park, one of the most visited natural wonders and national parks in Romania. Explore the beautiful surroundings of the Bolboci Lake, named as ”The sea of Bucegi”. Further on, the off road adventure tour continues to Podu cu Florile Peak and you`ll enjoy  panoramic views of the Bucegi Mountains. In the evening arrive at our accommodation in Brasov area.

Day 2: Diham Cottage – Bran (Dracula`s) Castle – Poiana Marului

This morning, we will continue our off road adventure to Diham Cottage enjoying amazing views of the Bucegi Mountains. Discover spectacular peaks of “Coltii Morarului”, known as “Dracula`s Teeth” and drink a cup of coffee in nature surrounded by impressive mountains views. You`ll then visit the legendary Bran Castle, (also known as Dracula’s Castle), a medieval masterpiece with fascinating history. Continue to drive towards Poiana Marului village, passing through breathtaking mountains landscapes. The village sceneries are charming and you`ll be fascinated by this fairy tale place. In the evening, arrive at our cozy accommodation, located at an altitude of 1100 m. We end the day with a delicious Romanian dinner and tasting the traditional local drinks.

Day 3: Poiana Marului – Traditional villages – Vidraru Dam

We leave Poiana Marului, driving about 15 minutes to Zarnesti. Your guide will take you on a short walking through the Canyon of Zarnesti while breathing the fresh mountain air in the scenery of “Cold Mountain” movie. After that, you`ll drive off road through the rolling hills of Magura and Pestera traditional villages. The beautiful scenery of the Piatra Craiului Mountain on one side and Bucegi Mountains on another will take your breath away. The off road adventure tour continues through stunning landscapes of the Bran Pass and reach the highest traditional village from Romania, Fundatica at an altitude of 1360 m. From there, drive through the Key Valley Canyon and arrive at our accommodation close by the Vidraru Dam, the biggest dam built in Romania, 166m high.

Day 4: Transfagarasan Road – Balea Lake – Voineasa

Transfagarasean and Balea Lake _1200We start the day with a tour of imposing Vidraru Dam, considered by specialists a real jewelry of engineering. Continue driving on the most famous and dramatic road in Romania. The Top Gear team stated Transfagarasan road” the best road in the world”.  The Transfagarasan mountain highway was built as a strategic military route and runs North to South across the highest sections of the Carpathians Mountains. The next stop will be at Balea Lake, a natural glacier lake at 2040 m. Here, you will drink a cup of coffee while admiring breathtaking landscapes of Balea Lake. In the evening, arrive in Voineasa for overnight rest.

Day 5 Voineasa – Transalpina Road – Saxon Villages

After breakfast we start our drive to the highest road in Romania – Transalpina Road. This is a spectacular road on top of the Romanian Mountains, known as ‘King’s Road’ or ‘The Devil’s Pathway. We will drive along the ridge of mountains, cross the beautiful passes and enjoy breathtaking scenery. We will have a coffee break on the mountaintop admiring spectacular view of Vidra Lake. Driving further, we arrive in Marginimea Sibiului, an area where you`ll discover a pastoral world with its quaint settlements and calm lifestyle.

Day 6:  Saxon Villages – Sinca Veche – Poiana Marului – Poiana Brasov

4x4 Tours Romania -1-8We leave the picturesque region of Marginimea Sibiului, driving to Sinca Veche village. We make a stop to visit the unique cave Monastery, also named “Temple of Wishes”. “Strange energy” and “special place” are expressions used by those who have stepped inside to seek rest and solace here. The off road adventure continues towards Barsa Land driving through breathtaking sceneries. Away from the noises of the world, here you will discover another portion of Romania cozy and picturesque. Relax and drink a cup of coffee while admiring the stunning views of Piatra Craiului Mountains (“King`s Stone”). In the evening, arrival at the hotel in Poiana Brasov for overnight rest.

Day 7: Poiana Brasov – Brasov – Bucharest

Here you will see the famous Black Church (the largest Gothic construction in Eastern part of Europe).The old town is one of the best preserved old towns in Europe with splendid architecture and old fortifications. The city has an amazing history with influences from Germany, the Austria-Hungarian Empire and the old communist state. Drive back to Bucharest. Additional night in Bucharest is available on request.

  • Bucegi Mountains With spectacular peaks and gorgeous scenery, the Bucegi Mountains are the most visited range in Romania.  The name “Bucegi” comes from ‘Buciac’ or ” Buceci ” as it appears in the medieval names of the 16th century. Bucegi Mountains are overlain by calcareous conglomerates and have sharper land forms. These include the Sphinx and Babele (Old Women), the latter shaped like giant toadstools.
  • Piatra Craiului Mountains are a mountain range in the Southern Carpathians in Romania. Piatra Craiului (“King`s Stone”) is a national park with untouched nature and wild animals where you can see rare flowers and amazing views you will not forget it. The Piatra Craiului mountains form a narrow and saw like ridge, which is about 25 km long.
  • Bolboci Lake – dubbed the “The Sea of Bucegi “, the lake is among the most spectacular natural attractions in the area of Bucegi Mountains, surrounded by picturesque landscapes, dominated by massive mountains, well wooded, formed behind a dam located at the highest altitude in the country, 1438 meters.
  • Canyon of Zarnesti, located near the city of Zarnesti, the canyon is a spectacular road into the hearth of Piatra Craiului mountain range. This deep and narrow limestone canyon was formed by the collapses of a cave roof. The spectacular road with massive rock walls on the both size with height up to 200 meters offers amazing views. It`s an easy way, without level differences, you meet no cars and other source of noise. In this canyon, scenes of “Cold Mountain” were filmed, a movie with Nicole Kidman and Jude Law, awarded with seven Oscars.
  • Bran Castle (also known as Dracula’s Castle) is a medieval masterpiece with fascinating history. Towers, narrow corridors, hidden premises – the caste offers many interesting facts and stories.
  • The traditional villages of Magura and Pestera located in the Piatra Craiului National Park Mountains in the Southern Carpathians, the villages of Pestera and Magura offer an authentic glimpse into rural Romanian life. You will discover a land with rolling hills, remote villages `s roads, traditional wooden houses. 
  • Sinca Veche monastery cave has been dated to around 7,000 years old. The cave is carved into the hill and has two chambers with drawings on walls.”Strange energy” and “special place” are expressions used by those who have stepped inside to seek rest and solace here. There are stories of healing, dreams coming true after praying here and non-existent lights and shadows appearing on photographs. 
  • Transfagarasan Road built as a strategic military route, it is the highest (2042 m) and most dramatic paved road in Romania. The road connects the historic regions of Transylvania and Wallachia. The Transfagarasan mountain highway was built by Ceausescu’s communist regime.
  • Transalpina Road is the highest mountain road in Romania and one of the most spectacular roads of the Carpathian Mountains.With its highest point at Urdele Pass (2,145 m above sea level), crossing Paring Mountains, the road, also called “The King’s Road”, was built in 1938 under the rule of King Carol II of Romania with an economic, strategic and military purpose and later rebuilt during World War II by German troops.
  • Brasov – this museum city was founded in 1211 by Teutonic Knights and settled by Saxons as one of the seven walled citadels. Here you will discover the Vestiges of the Ancient Citadel of Brasov, Black Church – which some claim to be the largest Gothic style church South-Eastern Europe and the Old Downtown of the city with medieval burg aspect. Brasov is the Transylvania’s gateway towards the South and East.

The final price per tourist is calculated according to the number of persons travelling, number of 4×4 vehicles used and other optional activities.

40% advance payment at booking for reserving the accommodations, 4×4 vehicles and guide and rest of payment within 30 days before departure date.

For self-driving option we need to sign a Self-driving Agreement with all tourist drivers and to keep 800 EUR/ as guarantee for each jeep, refundable after the trip, for covering light jeep damages in case of accident. Extra Casco Insurance available with 400 EUR franchise / vehicle to cover all damages of the vehicles on request.

  • Off Road level of difficulty: Easy-Medium suitable for drivers with small experience in driving 4×4 vehicles or even with no experience in off road. Experience for driving 4×4 vehicles is a plus but not mandatory.
  • *The drivers must have at least 21 years old and minimum 2 years of driving experience with normal cars.
